Equine Shiatsu
Restore Balance. Release Tension. Elevate Horse and Rider Performance.
When something feels off, but the cause isn’t obvious.
Equine Shiatsu is a hands-on therapy based on the meridian system used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Through gentle pressure along specific energy channels, Shiatsu helps release tension, regulate the nervous system, and restore balance throughout the horse’s body.
Many owners seek Shiatsu when their horse seems uncomfortable, reactive, or “not quite right,” yet veterinary examinations or physical assessments have not identified a clear cause.
By working with the horse’s energetic and neurological systems, Shiatsu can help the body shift out of tension and into a state where relaxation, balance, and improved movement are possible.
Particularly Helpful For
Equine Shiatsu is often sought when horses experience:
• unexplained tension or sensitivity
• behavioural changes or reactivity
• difficulty relaxing or standing still
• spookiness or anxiety
• resistance under saddle
• tension through the neck, poll, back, or hindquarters
• inconsistent movement without a clear physical diagnosis
It can also support horses during periods of stress, changes in training, competition schedules, or environmental shifts.

Supporting the Equine Nervous System
Horses are highly sensitive animals whose nervous systems respond quickly to physical and emotional stress.
Shiatsu works to calm the nervous system and release stored tension within the body. When this shift occurs, horses often become:
• calmer and more settled
• less reactive to their environment
• more comfortable in their movement
• easier to handle and ride
Many horses visibly relax during treatment, showing signs such as yawning, licking and chewing, lowering the head, or softening through the body.

A Complementary Approach
Equine Shiatsu does not replace veterinary care. Instead, it works alongside conventional veterinary and physiotherapy approaches as part of a holistic approach to equine wellbeing.
When the body’s natural energy flow is restored, the horse often finds a new level of ease, comfort and balance.

My Story
My Story
My journey with horses began early. After completing my GCSEs, I went on to study at Pencoed Equine College, immersing myself in the practical and professional world of horsemanship.
From there I spent over a decade working in the horse racing industry, gaining first-hand experience with performance horses and the physical and emotional demands placed upon them. During this time I developed a deep respect for the sensitivity, intelligence, and athleticism of horses, and began to notice how closely their wellbeing is linked to the subtle signals within their bodies and energy.
Alongside my work in racing, I was fortunate to spend time working with a number of well-known horse “whisperers”, observing and learning from people who understood horses not just physically, but energetically and behaviourally. These experiences shaped my understanding that horses communicate far beyond what we often recognise.
From childhood I have always been highly sensitive to energy and the subtle dynamics between people, animals, and environments. Over time this natural awareness led me into deeper study of energy-based and holistic approaches to healing.
Over the years I have trained extensively in Reiki, meditation, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, developing a framework for understanding how tension, stress, and energetic imbalance can manifest within the body.
Today my work brings together decades of experience with horses alongside my training in energy medicine. Through Equine Shiatsu and meridian-based bodywork, I aim to help horses release tension, rebalance their nervous systems, and return to a state of greater ease and harmony.
